Using Backpacks and Back Safety!
Recently we’ve seen many young patients with back and neck patients with back and neck pain and often a heavy backpack is involved.
The maximum weight of the loaded backpack should not exceed 15% of the child’s body weight.
Your child should wear BOTH shoulder straps. For added comfort, choose a backpack with wide, padded straps.
The shoulder straps should be adjustable so the backpack can be fitted properly. It should not hang more than four inches below the waistline.
